Welllllll, it's over! I can't say for sure the odds of getting in, but I think I did fairly well (?)
In my opinion the interview went well. It was a bit too fast and hectic for me since I had to go through talking about 11 pieces (and in the process messed up my order since my pieces were scattered and I wanted to get to all of them). I BSed so well. One of the interviewers asked me what my favourite part of Toronto is and I was just like, well, culturally...Queen Street because everytime I go there I learn something new.
One of my interviewers was the same prof Qian got. We talked about Mr Eisen ahahaha. <-- fail
And jellyfish. They showed a fair bit of interest in my work (I think explained well), but they asked me a lot of questions. Questions like why architecture, or what my favourite building in Toronto is..
And then they asked me to talk about myself. I was like, well you see I have very diverse interests, because I don't believe that living a narrow life allow you the fullest of living. I think diversity helps you understand the perspectives of other people. And they were like, well explain your diversity. I said that when you first look at me you can't really tell that I'm actually a very big
football soccer fan (one of them agrees), and also about the diverse taste of music (I had to explain post rock to them). IDK. It felt like I was simply trying to sell myself.
One of the students asked me how I work and what my art does for me, and also if art is an outlet for me (he seemed very interesting. He actually comes from a film background :O)
Taking my cue from Candice, when they asked me if I have questions, I asked why they picked Waterloo (ahahahaha I win.) The student dude talked about wanting another edge to his film, and Eisen's neighbour talked about how she just wanted to get the fuck away from Kitchener <-- ahahha.
At the end, the other prof told me that he really enjoyed the interview (it sounded like he means it), and all of them started to give me tips on how to pass the precis (show rough work...read carefully, be articulate) and wished me good luck.
The précis on the other hand...I expected the reading to be more challenging in terms of language, but the content was pretty intense. I didn't fully grasp it on the first reading, but as I took notes I started to understand and see the arguments. I think I did an okay piece of writing to summarize the essay, but my thesis statement was done like in the very last minute so it probably sucks.. I also didn't write a good copy of the precis so I hope they can read it.
Anyway, I'll know if I get accepted by next Thursday, waitlisted/rejected on Friday. I'm even more nervous than before the interviewwwwww D:
